game design
program Overview
Dive into the world of game design and learn what it takes to create your own! Our curriculum focuses on a “game of the week” style approach where students will analyze a new game each class discussing agency, mechanics and narrative techniques to learn how to define what makes a game truly FUN while also playing/comparing similar games of that genre.
game design Academy
The Game Design Academy can take place in any medium sized room at an institution or library. With the exploration of non-video games and focusing on analog games (board/card games) instead; we make use of the local organizations catalog of games as reference material while also leveraging donations from local game/comic stores to showcase unique games our students may not have had a chance to play before. From Chess to Pokémon to Dungeons & Dragons there’s a wide range games out there and we’re excited to find the fun in each of them with you!
