Quadball
sport Overview
The sport formerly known as quidditch (now quadball) was created in 2005 at Middlebury College in Vermont, and takes loose inspiration from its fictional namesake. From those roots in popular fantasy, quadball has since grown into its own as a sport played by thousands of players in over 40 countries with a premier World Cup event that takes place every two years.
Quadball is a mixed gender sport with a unique mix of elements from basketball, dodgeball and tag. A team is made up of seven athletes who play with brooms between their legs. While the game can appear chaotic at first, once familiar with the basic rules, quadball is an exciting sport to watch and even more exciting to play!

Why quadball / quidditch? Well, while there are already several opportunities for kids to engage in mainstream sports, these often occur outside the classroom. Inside the classroom, when teachers inspire their students to read, the enthusiasm and wonder that comes from fantasy novels can be leveraged into physical play by allowing readers to transform into the characters they admire. Educators often find quadball to be a great bridge between classroom learning and increasing the activity of young children.
